Since 1992, Innovations in Early Childhood, Inc. has been committed to helping early childhood education programs provide high quality educational experiences for all children through developmentally appropriate curricula, meaningful teacher professional development, active family engagement, and effective program leadership and management. Social Emotional Tools for Life, launched in 2014, adapts proven therapeutic strategies for supporting social and emotional development into techniques that can be used in the classroom and wider world to support children as they grow and learn.
Jennifer C. Fiechtner
Jennifer C. Fiechtner is a certified teacher integrally connected to the social and emotional development of young children. She is Innovations’ editor and lead author. She worked with Dr. Albrecht and Dr. Forrester to bring Social Emotional Tools for Life: An Early Childhood Teacher’s Guide to publication and has developed supplementary materials, including articles and presentations, connected to the strategies explored in the book. She is the author of Innovations’ new publication Five Parenting Strategies to Support Emotional Development. She has a special focus on the needs of military children and children who have experienced trauma, loss, and upheaval.

Kay M. Albrecht, Ph.D. is the co-author, with Michelle M. Forrester, Ph.D., of Social Emotional Tools for Life: An Early Childhood Teacher’s Guide to Strong Emotional Foundations and Successful Social Relationships, the Innovations series of curriculum, development, and training materials, and The Right Fit: Recruiting, Selecting, and Orienting Staff. “One of the most prolific writers in the field,” according to Chip Donahue, PhD (Erikson Institute), she is the president of Innovations in Early Childhood Education, Inc.

Michelle M. Forrester, Ph.D., is the co-author, with Kay M. Albrecht, Ph.D. of Social Emotional Tools for Life: An Early Childhood Teacher’s Guide to Strong Emotional Foundations and Successful Social Relationships. She is a pediatric psychologist in private practice.
